- The application to be registered for Poverty Eradication Assistance, which is a service under the Rural Area Development Programme, shall be made to the Botswana urban and district council (local authorities) Office. Local Authority Contact Details
- Interested applicant should visit the local authority Office, Social and Community Development (S&CD) Unit within their jurisdiction with supporting documents and express their interest in accessing benefits under the Poverty Eradication Programme.
- Submit the supporting documentation to be validated by the S&CD officer, he/she will complete the social inquiry form on behalf of the applicant.
- The Social and Community Development Officer would provide the applicant with information on the various poverty eradication packages that exist.
- The Poverty Eradication Program packages are for the following lines of business applicants will be required to select the preferable package:
- (Kiosk/ Home-based laundry/ Leather works/ Jam and vegetable pickles/ Bakery/ Textiles/ Food catering/ Tent hire/ Landscaping/ Backyard tree nursery/ Hair salon/ Backyard gardening.)
- Upon selecting the preferred package. The Social and Community Development Officer would provide more detailed information on the preferred package and perform a site visit at an agreed time to assess suitability for the requested package.
- If the officer determines that the site is not suitable for the preferred package, the applicant is advised and guided through the selection of another, more suitable package.
- If the site is suitable the applicant will be provided with technical skills and awareness, and business training, before being registered as a beneficiary of the programs.
