Apply In-Person

  1. The application for Mineral Samples Export Permit or License shall be made to the Department of Mines office, which is under the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology, and Energy Security office. Ministry contact details
  2. Applicants will be required to collect and complete the Minerals Permit Application Form VII. Copies of these forms are available for free at any of the Department of Mines offices or directly download it using this Minerals Permit Application Form VII Link
  3. The application form duly completed in all respect, the application letter, and the relevant supporting documentation should be submitted to the nearest Department of Mines office.
  4. If the application is submitted on your behalf by a consultant, the applicant should include a letter naming the consultant as their representative. The applicant should include their postal address, telephone, and fax numbers.
  5. Upon receipt of the application file, the receiving officer will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the file.
  6. Applicants will be issued with an acknowledgment letter as proof of submission of the application.
  7. The application file is then forwarded to the Director of Mines, where it is reviewed and consideration made, which is within 7 working days.
  8. If approved; the mineral sample export permit will be drawn up as directed by the Director of Mines, signed and stamped, and made available to be issued to the applicant at the dispatch office at the specific department of mines office, where the application was lodged.
  9. The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document and acknowledgment letter and pay the permit fee while collecting the Permit.

    • Nature of mineral samples.
    • Quantities of samples.
    • Origin.
    • Destination.
    • Types of analysis or tests to be carried out in a foreign country.
  • Confirmation letter from a Research Institution.
  • Confirmation of origin of samples in cases of research.
  • A certified copy of the company registration certificate or Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Any of the following valid license;
    • Prospecting License.
    • Mining License.
    • Retention License.
    • Minerals Permit.
  • Applicable valid identification document
  • Authorization letter (if applicable)
