Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. To receive land survey records for quality approval, a registered land surveyor should file the request with the Department of Surveys and Mapping (DSM) offices in Gaborone or Francistown only, which is under the Ministry of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services.Ministry contact details.
2. Submit the survey records to be approved along with all supporting documentation to the DMS receiving officer, who will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria.
3. Applicants will be required to pay the prescribed fee as mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page and obtain a payment receipt.
4. It is only after the payment of the prescribed fee and submission of all the documentation that the file will be registered and the DSM officer will issue the client a survey record number to the record.
5. The Survey records will go through the process of examination and consideration, which is usually within 4 working days for Diagrams for single plots, while General Plans will be processed within 30 working days.
6. The applicant will be notified of the outcome via phone or email.
7. If successful, the plans will be approved, signed, and stamped by the authorized official and made available for withdrawal by the applicant at the specific DSM office where the application was lodged or have the plans sent to him/her by mail.
8. The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document and state the DSM survey record number while collecting the Land Survey Records at the DSM offices.

Only Registered Land Surveyors.

Fees

There is a fee of BWP50.00 per plot for single plot surveys, BWP100.00 per sheet for layout plans, and BWP5.00 per plot therein payable by cash, cheque, or adjustment voucher.

Processing Time
