Procedure

Apply In Person

1. The application for the Guaranteed Residential Property Scheme with the Botswana Savings Bank shall be made through any of the Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) branch offices. BSB Contact Details
2. Applicants should visit the nearest Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) branch offices and confirm with a BBS Consultant, whether your organization has a guaranteed motor vehicle and mortgage scheme with BSB. (Facility offered to all Government employees).
3. Where the scheme is available, the applicant should then check with the employer on how much you qualify for.
4. Collect the following forms, the Guaranteed Residential Property Scheme Application Form, BSB Spousal Consent form, BSB Stop Order Deduction Form and Employment confirmation form and the loan checklist, obtainable for free at any of the BSB branch offices customer care desk, or download the application forms via the BSB website link below, with the exception of the Guaranteed Residential Property Scheme application form, which is not available online,BSB downloadable forms, or download them directly using these links,
   • BSB Stop Order Deduction Form To be completed and signed by the Applicant.
   • Employment confirmation form To be completed, signed, and stamped by an authorized person at work.
   • BSB Spousal Consent form To be completed and signed by the spouse (if married)
5. Fill out the application forms, keenly read the “Declaration and Acceptance” section of the form before making the declaration, as this is where the bank asks you to confirm that you read disclosure documentation describing fees, liabilities, and how the loan interest is calculated, etc. If need any assistance please do not hesitate to ask the customer care staff.
6. Submit the duly completed application forms in all respect, attached to the relevant supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page to your place of employment for assessment and approval.
7. The approved application forms and the supporting documentation should then be forwarded to the Botswana Savings Bank (BSB) office’s for processing and for loan disbursements, which take at most 2 days provided all the necessary documents are availed.

• 2 Certified Copy of National Identity card/ Omang.
• Certified Recent 6 Months Bank Statement which includes 6 salaries
• Recent Pay Slip – Original
• Confirmation of residence e.g. Police affidavit or BPC Bill stating plot number WUC or BPC Bill stating plot number.
• Certified Copy of Marriage Cert, ID of Spouse & Consent form. (if married)
• Loan Settlement Bal. & Loan Stmnt of loans to be clear.
• If on Contract, a letter stating when term starts & ends.
• Confirmation letter/form if employed less than 1 year 9.

NOTE:

• All copies must be certified via stamp & signature.
• For top-up bring 3 months bank statements.

Eligibility

Applicants should meet the following criteria to be eligible,

• Should be a citizen with a valid Omang.
• Be a Government employee or an employee of a qualifying Parastatal.

Validity

• The loan is repayable over 20 years and it attracts a Loan Interest that is at a prime rate minus 0.25%.

Processing Time

• The release of funds by the BSB takes at most 2 days provided all the necessary documents are availed.

Need for the Document

• This loan facility is tailor-made for the government and Parastatals which have an agreement with BSB to offer their staff guaranteed residential loans. Application and approval of the loan rest with the employer. The role of the Bank is to disburse funds after approval by the respective employers.
