Procedure

1. Go to the licensing office and complete an application.
2. Submit the completed form along with your two ID pictures.
3. Present your valid driving license.
4. It will take about 72 hours to process your application.
5. Pay the required fee before receiving your license.

Need for the Document

An International Driving License (IDL) is a document recognized in many countries which allows the holder to drive a private motor vehicle in that country. To be valid the IDL must be accompanied by a valid license from the home country. The document is a multiple language translation of the holder's national driver's license, complete with photograph and other personal details.

Information which might help

Remember that you must bring along your driving license issued in Benin during your trip abroad. The international driving license is only a translation of your local driving license, you must be able to present both at all times.
