Barbados - Obtain National Identification Card

Apply In-Person
- Visit your local Constituency Registration Centre to make the application for a National Identification Card. A list of the constituency registration centers can be found on the following link :Registration centres
- Present the following documents needed for application:
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate
- Passport
- Affidavit – must be registered by the Registrar
- Deed Poll – must be registered by the Registrar
- Decree Absolute
- Citizenship – For a person who was not born in Barbados and who has been granted this status by the Chief Immigration Officer
- Barbadians resident overseas can produce a valid passport of that country along with their Barbados birth certificate for verification of name by marriage.
- Non-Barbadian citizens are required to produce:
- An original birth certificate or a valid passport endorsed by the Chief Immigration Officer of Barbados
- An original document, which is valid for six (6) months or more, indicating the status given by the Chief Immigration Officer of Barbados.
- Birth Certificate
- Complete an application form.( The application document is provided at the Barbados Electoral and Boundaries Commission offices)
- Have your photograph and fingerprints imprints taken.
- There is no fee for obtaining a national identification card. However, there is a fee of $25.00 for replacing Identification Cards which are lost, defaced or destroyed.
- Collection of the new identity card is done in-person after a period of 10 working days.

- a citizen of Barbados over 16 years of age
- a citizen of a country other than Barbados who is granted permission by the Chief Immigration Officer to remain in Barbados for a period of not less than six (6) months.
FeesEdit
There is no fee for obtaining a national identification card. However, there is a fee of $25.00 for replacing Identification Cards which are lost, defaced or destroyed.
ValidityEdit
- The validity of the national identity card is valid as long one is alive.
- It is also valid until one changes the details on the national identity card by adopting a new name.

- All applications are done in-person at Barbados Electoral and Boundaries Commission offices at the constituency level.
- Visit your local Constituency Registration Centre to make the application for a national identification card
- Present the proper documents needed for allocation.
- A fee of $25.00 for replacing Identification Cards which are lost, defaced or destroyed. New applications are free of charge.

Information which might helpEdit
- Where the previous holder of an ID card has not had his/her Work Permit, Student Visa etc. extended but is issued a Visitor’s Visa, by the Chief Immigration Officer, the ID care will not be replaced.
- A fee is paid for replacing an ID card which is lost, defaced or destroyed. This fee is waived for persons 65 years and over. The fee for replacing an ID card which is lost, defaced or destroyed is $25.00
