Procedure

Apply In-Person

1. The Applicant has to submit an application form to the Permanent Secretary,Ministry of National Security. Visit the following link for Contact Details Link.
2. Applicant from Family Island can submit their applications to the Administrator's Office or by mail. They must make certain that the necessary documents and fees are included.
3. The Applicant can download the Form from the following Form Link.
4. Complete the application form with all details.
5. After filling in all the details submit the application form along with the supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents “section to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of National Security along with the corresponding Fee.
6. Before the license is issued, the applicant's character, financial situation, and compliance may be investigated.
7. Within ten business days after receiving the application, the applicant will be contacted by phone or email to arrange for the collection of the license.
8. The candidate will be eligible for an annual license after being vetted by the police.

• Four passport sized photographs
• Birth Certificate or Bahamian Passport
• Current Original Police Record (not more than six months old)
• Design of badge (in case of Security Guards only)
  • The minimum size of 2”x2”
  • Distinctive Colour
  • Legend indicating wearer is a Security Guard
• Design and colour of uniform (in case of persons providing Security Guards)
• Copy of incorporation or certificate of Business Registration.

Eligibility

Applicant must be Bahamian citizen and 18 years older.

Fees

• Temporary License Fee - BS$125.00 (every three months)
• Annual License Fee - BS$500.00
  

Validity

The License is valid for one year.

• Security for Armoured Services
  

Information which might help

• An Annual License expires 31st December following the date of issue.
• Eligibility for an Annual License is given after favourable investigation.
• All existing Companies must be licensed by 31st January of the current year.
• A License is not transferable.
