  1. The Application is available in the following Link
  2. The Applicant must provide all information necessary for the application procedure online.
  3. Applicant should make sure to attach all the documents that are mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals)
  4. The fee of this procedure is mentioned under the “Fees” section of this page.
  5. Australian Federal Police will issue the certificate and notify the applicant via mail.
  6. Please contact Australian Federal Police for further details.

EligibilityEdit

  • Residents of the Jervis Bay Territory, the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and other external Commonwealth territories.
  • Individuals looking for work with the Commonwealth Government.
  • Individuals who are subject to a check under Commonwealth law.
  • In order to immigrate to Australia.
  • International employment.
  • International adoption.
  • Visa requests for international travel.



FeesEdit

  • The following amounts apply to national police checks and related services:
    • Each National Police Check application from a government agency or a citizen will cost $42.00.
    • $99.00 will get the applicant a fingerprinting and National Police Check application where the applicant provides the AFP their fingerprints when the applicant applies.



ValidityEdit

  • The applicant's certificate is valid as of the application date, and the certificate's validity date is printed there.
  • Results after this date cannot be verified by the AFP.
  • How long a certificate will be accepted depends on the organisation that needs it from the applicant.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • An individual's reportable court verdicts and pending charges (i.e., when they have been charged with an offence but have not yet been in court) are listed on a National Police Certificate (NPC), which is a document compiled from the databases of all Australian police services.
  • This is sometimes referred to as a person's criminal past.



Information which might helpEdit

  • Only when a legal or regulatory requirement for such a check exists may fingerprint checks be performed.
  • The procedure of checking the applicant's fingerprints against a central database of records will take more time.
  • Additionally, there is a fee for this service.
