Angola - Apply for a Refugee Visa
ProcedureEdit
1.The refugee who comes into the country in order to obtain asylum at the time of entry at the border post should request the asylum authority or to any authority police, and may do so in writing or verbally. He/she will be given forms to fill.
2.Specialized staff of the Interior Ministry will be in charge of receiving asylum applications to be recorded on forms prepared by the Committee
3.After review of the application, the applicant will go through a confidential interview.
4.The interviews, which should prepare the minutes will be officially be completed by the employee or on demand as often as necessary, before being taken to consideration of the Committee on Recognition of the Right of Asylum
5.After the interview, the Ministry of Interior of the place where applicant submitted the request, the applicant (and the smaller members of his/her family if applicable) will be issued an identity document of temporary residence
6.All decisions of the Committee on Recognition of the Right of Asylum shall be notified to the refugee through the Ministry of Interior of the place of residence

- Any person in fear of being persecuted in their country of origin on account of his race, religion, nationality, membership in a certain group provenance social or political opinion, is unwilling to avail the protection of that country; or having no nationality and being out of the country in which he has his habitual residence is unable or does not want to owing to such fear him back.

- A refugee who is illegally in the country, will not be sanctioned because of illegal entry or presence, provided they present to the authorities and explain the situation.
- Also, the illegal entry or stay in the country will not be grounds for rejecting an application for asylum.
- The authority competent to receive the application for asylum is the delegation of the Ministry of Interior of the place where the applicant presents.
- While the proceedings arise from the application or appeals, the petitioner and smaller members of your family may remain in the country enjoy the rights and obligations of temporary residents

Refugee status is granted to anybody who is persecuted or fears persecution in their country of origin or where is his/her home, because of their race, religion, nationality, membership of origin of a particular social group or political opinion, does not seek the protection of that country, or not having a nationality and being outside the country in which he has his habitual residence is unable or owing to such fear want him back, OR the fact that aggression, foreign occupation or events that disrupt large public order in either part or the whole of his country of origin or nationality, or not having the nationality of the country habitual residence, is obliged to leave him/her to seek refugee in another place outside his country of origin or the country of his/ her nationality or where he has his habitual residence.

The competent authority to recognize the right of asylum is - Recognition Committee the Asylum - (COREDA), which would include a representative from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Interior, the Secretary of State for Social Affairs and Immigration and services. Any person who has committed the following acts cannot be granted refugee status in Angola.
- committed serious acts against the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Angola
- committed crimes against peace, war crimes or crimes against humanity as defined in international instruments relating to such crimes
- committed an ordinary crime outside the Republic of Angola before being admitted as a refugee, or
- has been guilty of acts contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations
