Apply In-Person:
- To Renewal Registration of Self-Help Group or Community Projects in Ghana, the applicant must go to the Department of Social Welfare. contact link
- Applicant can find the address and contact details in the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
- Visit the office with a formal application letter for the renewal of Self-Help or community projects. Group/Community Project Registration from the relevant department.
- The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
- Complete the application form with required details and information in the respective fields and sections.
- Attest it with the applicant’s signature and attach the required documents with the completed application form.
- Submit it to the relevant authority at the office and pay the Application and Processing fee as directed by the officials and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
- After submission, the application and other documents will be forwarded for examination and verification processes.
- Once the verification and validation processes are over, the application will be approved and the officials will proceed to take required steps to issue the renewed Registration Certificate.
- When the license is ready to be collected, the applicant will be notified by the office and the applicant can collect it by any applicable means.
- The processing time for this procedure is 2 days.

- A renewal fee for this procedure is GHS 1,000.

- Applicants are advised to complete the application form neatly and completely with absolute legibility and appropriateness to avoid rejections.
- Also, all the required documents must be furnished completely to help with the application process thereby reducing the time spent on processing as much as possible.

Need for the DocumentEdit
- Every Self-Help Group/Community Project’s Registration obtained from the Ghana Federal Government must be renewed every time of its validity period expires.
- This allows the group to legally carry out its activities in Ghana.
Information which might helpEdit
- A group should be registered in the Sub-county it resides. The registration offices are located in all sub-counties in the districts around the country.
- If three months after submitting a programmer for self-help projects the county chief is not notified by the district planning committee to the contrary, he or she may proceed to carry out, or authorize the sub county chief or chiefs to carry out, the projects listed in the programmer.
- Except that no projects shall be commenced in respect of which there is specified in the programmer the need for financial assistance from the Government or in respect of which a planning committee has notified the county chief that such assistance shall be required or
- In respect of which any other assistance from the Government has either been requested in the programmer or the county chief has been notified by a planning committee that such assistance shall be required and no assurance of such assistance has been given to the chief by the appropriate department of the Government.

- Legally registering of the group gives the group powers to transact business in its name.
- The group certificate of registration is used when obtaining grants and loans from the government and micro-financial institutions.
