Procedure[edit]
- The birth is registered in the district where the child was born.
- Informants will be required to complete a registration form with the assistance of the clerk. Applicants will also be asked to submit a copy of the identification of parents and the family booklet if available.
- After the form has been completed, the clerk will check the form.
- The Birth Certificate will be issued after registration.
Registering overseas birth
- Go to the nearest embassy or diplomatic mission of Tunisia in the country you are currently staying. You may use the link provided under "Office Locations & Contacts" to get in touch with the embassy. The Embassy's consular service section will process your request to have the birth of your child registered.
- You will need to submit a Birth Registration Form. The form must be signed by the father and notarized by a Notary Public.
- If the father or the mother is a foreign national, a copy of his/her Passport is required as an ID.
- After registering the birth, the Consular Service Section will send you a Tunisian Birth Certificate.

For a child born in Tunisia:
- Completed birth registration form
- Copy of the identification of parents
- Family booklet if applicable

- Notarized and duly signed Birth Registration Application form.
- Two Certified copy of the U.S Birth Certificate.
- Two Copies of both Parents Tunisian's ID.
- A prepaid self-addressed return envelope.
