Procedure

1. A verbal declaration of death must be made, within two days, at the Civil Registry or at the Posts of the Civil Registry.
2. The declarant will be asked to present his identification document in person at the Civil Registry Office or at the Posts of the Civil Registry and deliver.
3. The following documents must be submitted to the civil registry officer:
   1. Original death certificate issued by the hospital or doctor recognized by the Health Services;
   2. Original document of identification of the deceased, if the deceased has it;
   3. Original or certified photocopy of marriage or divorce certificate if the deceased has been married or divorced in order to be able to enter the name of his / her last spouse in the death seat. The delivery of these documents is dispensed, if the respective marriage or divorce appears in the Conservatory.
4. Your request will be processed immediately.

Eligibility

Death declaration can be done by the following:

• The owners of the house where the death occurred;
• The capable and closest relative of the deceased who is present;
• Other relatives of the deceased who are present;
• The administrator or director of the establishment, public or private for example hospital, asylum, where the death occurred;
• The minister of any cult who has witnessed the death;
• The person or entity in charge of the funeral.
• Note: In case of abandonment of the corpse, the participation must be done by the administrative or police authorities.
• The declarant must be over 18 years of age.
