Procedure

1. Couples who wish to register the partnership in the Principality of Liechtenstein must contact the Civilian Office in Vaduz.
2. To know which documents you will need to submit in order to register your partnership, you will need to inquire at the Liechtenstein Civil Service Office. Depending on the country of residence and the civil status, different documents are required.
3. The required documents must be submitted at the earliest 6 months and not later than three weeks before the date of entry of the partnership. The preliminary procedure can not be initiated until all legal requirements have been met.

Recognition of a partnership registered abroad:

1. Prepare the following documents:
   1. Partnership certificate in the original (certified with apostille)
   2. A complete birth certificate in the original (certified with an apostille)
   3. Copy of the valid passport or ID card of the foreign partner must be enclosed, as well as the form "Full details for the recognition of a partnership registered abroad with the Civil Registry Office Vaduz".
2. These documents must be submitted in person to the Vaduz Civil Registry Office. If a third person is commissioned, the latter must have a power of attorney.
3. The fees for recognition are CHF 150.00 and can be paid directly at the counter of the civil registry office.
