Procedure[edit]

There are several types of visas that are granted in Libya to people who are interested in investing in a business there. This type of visa is for people who are not presently residing in Libya but want to start business in Libya. This is the type of visa for those individuals who want to begin a business in Libya. When you get this visa it is a step towards a Business permanent resident Visa.

After you have this visa one for two years, you can apply for either an investor, state/territory sponsored business owner, The visa is typically valid for four years. You may include your partner, your children, and other few relatives who reside with you. You cannot have access to the government's health care, but you can get private health insurance. You are not required to get it, but it is available.

To be an eligible investor:

  • You must be less than 65 years old,
  • have notified the regional authority of the province or territory where you live about your intention to grow your business venture
  • and have made a designated investment of LYD 500,000.
  • When they require it, you must transfer it over to the government.
  • You must also be a native speaker of Arabic or have proof of passing the test or hold an accreditation in English.
  • For at least one out of five years before you can apply for your visa, you must have managed or had direct involvement in a business in *which you own an interest of a certain percentage.
  • You must have some general business experience, and show a high degree of management skills
  • You and your partner must not have engaged in questionable or unacceptable business activities.
  • You must also be committed to developing your legitimate business in Libya and take part in managing the business.
  • You must have a net value of LYD $50,000 invested in the business.
  • You must be in good health, and be of good character to be admitted to Libyan authorities .
  • If you are 18 or older, you have to sign a Values Statement for Libyans.
  • You have to show that you intend to live the Libyan way of life. There are certain conditions that you must meet for this visa
  • You must come into Libya before anyone else that is included with your application for your visa.
  • So, your family members must come into Australia after you do.

If any of these conditions change, then you must notify, in writing, the department as soon as you possibly can.

What are the steps you must take to apply for this Business visa?

  1. First, you must notify the state/territory authority of what you intend to do about your business.
  2. Then you need to fill out and lodge your application form.
  3. you can make your designated investment.

you can also consider the following information

Single-entry visa[edit]

  • Once the visa approval is secured from the Immigration Department in Tripoli, the approval will be used to obtain the visa on arrival at the airport.
  • No contact with the embassy is needed, unless required.
  • The process can be completed in one week, but it may take longer, depending on 'nationality' and local circumstances.
  • You will be sent a copy of the approval as a proof of visa, which you will need to print and keep with you before boarding your plane.

Multiple-entry visa[edit]

Multiple-entry visa cannot be obtained on arrival. Instead, the authorization number or the approval will be sent to the embassy of your choice to secure the visa from the embassy, where you will also need to provide the above required documents.

The visa approval must be used within one month of issue, and if the stamp is obtained on arrival then a fee of 100 Libyan dinars needs to be paid to the immigration authority at the airport (only applies to one-month business visa). The fee for 6-month visa is paid to the embassy.

  • Single-entry visa cannot be extended to 3- or 6-months visa once in Libya, nor the latter can be obtained once in Libya. Exit from the country is required before securing a second entry visa. However, one-month visa can be extended by only one month while still in Libya.
  • The multiple visa usually takes around two weeks to process, but sometimes the approval or the visa number takes longer to be faxed to the appropriate embassy. This requires the need to apply well in advance to allow for unexpected delays.
