Procedure

1. You have to approach the local driver license authority in your area. They should be able to help you in getting your driver license renewed.
2. You will have to approach the driver license authority three months ahead of date of expiry.

Required Documents

1. ID card or passport
2. Biometric passport photo
3. Current driving license
4. Only Altfhrerscheinen (gray or pink), which were not issued by the driving license authority in Munich: flashcards copy which you can request from the authority by telephone that issued your driver's license. From there, the flashcards copy should be sent directly to the driving license authority.
5. Certificate of eyesight examination by an ophthalmologist or Power / occupational physician.
6. Certificate of a medical examination for medical fitness.
