Procedure[edit]

a. Apply online - Albania Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of the Judicial status, Vertetim i Gjendjes Gjyqesore) Online with Images

  1. In order to apply for PCC online, applicant has to reach the online portal: e-Albania Government portal
  2. In the given page, please select sign up option provided at the top part of the page and sign in. If new user, use register button next to it for registering and then can sign up.
  3. Choose the "Certificate of Judicial Status (Criminal Proof)" service
  4. Click the "Use" button
  5. Fill out the electronic form and click “Send”. This request will be processed to issue the certificate.
Note: The service is temporarily out of order.


Applying in Albania
a. Apply In-Person

  1. Citizen must submit a copy of their Albanian ID card and non citizens must submit a copy of their valid Albanian Residence Permit.
  2. Police Clearance Certificate is issued by the Judicial Status Office (Tirana) Albania.
  3. Applicant shall apply in person with any post office in Albania.
  4. Link for contact: CONTACT THE ALBANIAN POST use the details from the page to locate the office.
  5. Go to the respective office. Don’t forget to take the required copy of documents along with originals to the office.
  6. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised.
  7. This application will be processed by respective department.
  8. The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in person upon notification or issued as per norms.


Applying process overseas
a. Apply through representative

  1. Citizens can appoint their relatives and non citizens shall appoint their friends or former work colleague.
  2. Applicant shall authorize representative to apply on their behalf at the respective post office in Albania to obtain PCC.
  3. The representative should be entrusted with the written authorization.

  5. Representative will go to the respective office. They should not forget to take the required copy of documents.
  6. Please follow as per authorities guidelines and submit the completed application along with documents. Applicant should pay for any charges if required as advised. Applicant filled application form should be used.
  7. This application will be processed by respective department.
  8. The certificate can be collected from the office where applicant applied in person upon notification or issued as per norms.
Note: Representative should carry the following while applying.
  • written authorization.

b. Apply at embassy or consulate in person

  1. Applicant can apply at their nearest embassy or consulate in person. Link to locate the embassy or consulate: Embassy
  2. Application form can be obtained from the embassy or consulate. Call the office and fix appointment for personal visit. Also find out the details for this procedure.
  3. On the scheduled date, go to the office with all the document in original and in copy. Please follow as per officer guidelines to process your application.
  4. This application will be processed by the respective department. The completed certificates are forwarded to the concern.
  5. Applicant shall collect the certificate with the respective office upon notification or can get it delivered as per norms applicable

Eligibility[edit]

  • Applicant with valid passport and a valid address proof.
  • Age: 16 years and above. In case of minors, the application must be submitted by the parent exercising parental authority, if the minor has not turned 16 years.
  • The current address of the applicant must be same as in the passport and other supporting documents.
  • Applicants who are in need of residential status, employment or long term visa or for immigration to a foreign nation.

  • 30 euros or the equivalent value of the place.
  • Fee/charge varies for case to case. Updated fee requirement will be provided by respective authorities while applying.

Instructions[edit]

You need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence in Albania

Persons applying for the Police Clearance Certificate are required to submit a certificate from a public agency (embassy, immigration bureau, etc.) representing the country (or territory, etc.) of their destination.

Those who can apply for the Police Clearance Certificate must:

  • have currently registered their residence in Albania; or
  • had registered their last residence in Albania, and their registration has expired.

Applicants must be fingerprinted. All applicants are required to come in person.

Need for the Document[edit]

A police certificate is an official document issued by police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.

The Albanian police clearance �Certificate of the Judicial status� (Vertetim i Gjendjes Gjyqesore) consists of a criminal court certificate from the Ministry of Justice concerning any convictions.

Other uses of the Document/Certificate[edit]

A �Police Clearance Certificate� is a document issued by the District Superintendent of Police to an applicant, which certifies the following:

  • That the applicant is a citizen of Albania
  • That the applicant is indeed the person whose photograph has been affixed on the PCC application form.
  • That the applicant has not been involved in any criminal case and that there is no criminal case pending against him /her in the court of law as per district police records.
  • That the applicant has not come to any adverse notice, which would render him/her ineligible for the grant of visa/immigration

A PCC is needed by all Indian citizens who apply for a visa for visiting/ emigrating to a foreign country. The PCC has to be produced before the concerned embassy/consulate alongwith the valid passport and other necessary documents. The PCC may also be needed by Albanian citizens living/working abroad who wish to apply for foreign citizenship or for permanent resident status in a foreign country.
