Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for skills upgrading training with the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA), the applicant should make the application to the Director-General of the National Industrial Training Authority. Please use this link to locate the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) Office Location & Contact Details
  2. The applicant should obtain the application form for training for skills upgrading at the NITA office or download the application form directly through this link APPLICATION FOR SKILLS UPGRADING FORM
  3. Once the applicant obtains the application form, the form should be completed clearly with all the required details provided.
  4. Then the applicant should obtain a copy of the National Identity card or a passport of the nominated employee to take the upgrading training and attach it to the application form.
  5. The employer should then submit the complete application file to the Director-General of the National Industrial Training Authority. Note the submission of the application should reach the Director-General at least seven days for local training and fourteen days for overseas training before the course begins.
  6. The Director-General will review the application and if it meets the required standards, the application will be approved. Note that the application may be rejected if it does not satisfy the required standards.
  7. Upon the approval of the application, the applicant will be notified through his/her contact details and the nominated employee will be requested to commence the upgrading training.

EligibilityEdit

  • The employer should be registered as an Industrial Training Levy contributor and be up-to-date with the monthly levy contribution.
  • Only citizens of the East African member states working in Kenya may be trained under the Industrial Training Levy Fund.
  • Only employees on whom the Industrial Training Levy is remitted shall benefit from the Industrial Training Levy Fund.

  • If the application is rejected, the employer can appeal to the Director-General on a rejected application where there exists reasonable ground for the appeal.
  • The appeal should be received by the Director-General before the course begins.
