Procedure

Apply in Person

1. An application for de-registration is made by writing of a request to the KCAA to de-register an aircraft.
   
2. The request should be submitted with all the required documents which include:
   

   (i). The original C of R duly signed at the back.
   

   (ii). Proof of payment of prescribed fees
   

   (iii). Landing and parking fees clearance
   

   (iv). Air Navigation charges clearance
   

   (v). Release of previous lease agreement or financier (If Applicable)
   

3. Upon submission of the request the authority will go through a rigorous evaluation exercise to determine grounds of de-registration.
   
4. To de-register or cancel the registration of an aircraft the following circumstances should me met:
   

   (i). Upon application by the registered owner for purposes of registering an aircraft in another state or for any other purpose; or
   

   (ii). Upon the destruction of the aircraft or its permanent withdrawal from its use
   

   (iii). If the aircraft is on an Kenyan AOC, it must be removed from the AOC prior to deregistration
   

   (iv). All fees outstanding must be paid in full for the aircraft
   

5. Upon submission of the request the Authority will verify the signature of the owner or the legal representative. It may be necessary to submit legal documents of consent and authorization of de-registration.
   
6. If everything is in order the aircraft will be de-registered and removed from the Authority’s register.
   
7. This process takes a period of 90 days to complete.
   
8. Once the aircraft is removed from the Kenya Register it can no longer fly displaying its Kenya nationality and registration marks.

Eligibility

• The Authority may de-register or cancel the registration of an aircraft under the following circumstances—
  

1. upon application by the registered owner for purposes of registering the aircraft in another state or for any other purpose; or
   
2. upon the destruction of the aircraft or its permanent withdrawal from use.
   
   

Fees

• The application is free of charge however you are supposed to settle all the attorney fees and any other fees that the aircraft might have accrued before it becomes de-registered.
  
  

Validity

• The validity period is forever.

Instructions

• The applicant should –
  

1. Write a written request to the Authority requesting de-registration
   
2. Submit the completed form with all the required documents.
   
3. Pay the statutory fees and submit the payment receipt.
   
4. Have aircraft inspection
   
5. Submit registration certificate
   
6. Get deregistration from authority’s register.

1. Type and description of Aircraft (Including seating capacity)
   
2. Overall Dimensions. (Height ,Span (Open),Length ,Span (folded))
   
3. Engines (Type and engine )
   
4. Name and address of Constructor
   
5. Constructors Serial Number
   
6. Is the Aircraft on lease?
   
7. Is the aircraft already registered? If so give full particulars
   
8. Name and address of the Owner
   
9. Name and Address of lessee
   
10. Name and address of the Financier
    
11. Type of ownership of aircraft (wholly or jointly)
    
12. Usual station of Aircraft
    
13. Name and Signature of the applicant
    
14. Date of Application.
    
15. Declaration
    
    

Need for the Document

• This application allows a resisted Aircraft in Kenya get deregistered from the Authority’s Register.
  
  

Information which might help

• The Authority shall, before de-registering an aircraft in accordance with this regulation, require the registered owner to—
  

(i). return to the Authority the certificate of aircraft registration;

(i). settles any liens or encumbrances attached to the aircraft;

(i). remove all nationality and registration marks assigned to the aircraft; and

(i). comply with any such other conditions as the Authority may specify.

• Once the aircraft is removed from the Kenya Register it can no longer fly displaying its Kenya nationality and registration marks.
  
• Also, the Kenya assigned Transponder Mode Address must be removed from the aircraft at the time of de-registration.
  
• Failure to do so could result in an unsafe condition occurring on future flights the aircraft might make under its new registration.
  
  

Other uses of the Document/Certificate
