- To apply for the Accreditation of Certification Body, the applicant should make the application online to the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS). Please view the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) contacts through this Contact details.
- Before making the application, the applicant should contact the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) through their contact details provided in step one above to inquire about the accreditation.
- Upon inquiring, Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) will send formal feedback to the applicant on the terms and references applicable to the provision of the accreditation service.
- Once the applicant receives the formal response from the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), the applicant shall make a formal application o the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) by downloading the Accreditation application form online through this Accreditation Application Form.
- Download the Accreditation Application Form and complete it correctly then upload and send the completed form along with the accreditation agreement and the self-declaration document through the link provided in step 4 above.
- Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) will receive the application and review the application form is completed correctly and confirm if all the documents are attached.
- upon the documents review processes and Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) is satisfied that the application is completed accordingly, Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) will contact the applicant in a formal and inform the applicant of the next step including payment of the requisite fees. Note that if the application is deemed to be incomplete by Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), they will inform the applicant to provide the necessary document/s and/or information to complete the application within 30 days of receiving the notice.
- Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) will also inform the applicant of the resource review including whether the acessement will be done promptly. Note that Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) may request the applicant for a preliminary visit prior to the initial assessment to determine accreditation.
- Then Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) will conduct the initial assessment and report the finding to the applicant.
- Then Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) will make a formal accreditation decision based on the assessment finding and inform the applicant of the decision made.
- If Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) approves the application, Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) will give the applicant the accreditation certificate, accreditation marks and the accreditation program.

- A Certification Body is an independent and impartial organization possessing the necessary competence to carry out the certification of the following: management systems, products, processes, services, or personnel.
- The Certification Pillar in Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) offers accreditation to all types of Certification bodies.
- KENAS assesses and accredits Certification Bodies (CBs) that demonstrate competence to audit and certify organizations conforming to management systems products, processes, services, or personnel standards.
- Accreditation by a recognized and respected body such as KENAS ensures the impartiality and competence of the CB and fosters confidence and acceptance of the CB’s certifications by end-users in the public and private sectors.
