ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for Seaman’s Certificate of Nationality, you should visit the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) head office or regional offices if you are in Jamaica. You can view PICA’s location map and contact details via this link: Link
  2. Obtain the application form PICA’s office and fill it as instructed
  3. Prepare all the required supporting documents and attach them to the application form
  4. Go to PICA’s office and pay the application fee at the cashier window according to the kind of service you wish to apply for. That is Normal Service or Express service and obtain the payment receipt
  5. Submit the complete application to the PICA official at the service desk including the payment receipt
  6. The official will validate your application if it has all the requirements and forward it for approval and processing
  7. Then the application will be processed and you will be issued a Seaman’s Certificate of Nationality

  • Current Jamaican Passport and/or Jamaican Birth Certificate
  • Completed Seamans Certificate application form
  • Two Identical photographs (one should be certified by the certifying official who certified the application)
  • Proof of seagoing employment (letter from shipping company or shipping agent)
  • Proof of payment.
