Need for the DocumentEdit
- In Jamaica, a Default Cost Certificate is a legal document issued by the Registrar of the Supreme Court to a creditor who has obtained a judgment against a debtor in a civil lawsuit.
Information which might helpEdit
- The certificate is called a "default" certificate because it is issued when the debtor has failed to appear in court or respond to the legal action taken against them by the creditor.
- The creditor is then able to obtain a default judgment against the debtor, and the Default Cost Certificate serves as a record of the judgment and the amount owed.
Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit
Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate. e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
