Apply In-Person

  1. To apply for access to official documents, you should submit your request or application to the Ministry of Local Government &Rural Development. You can view the ministry’s contact details via this link:Link
  2. Download the application form from the Access To Information (ATI) resources page via this link:Link or directly via this link:Link
  3. You can complete the form by either filling it electronically using your computer or print it and fill it by hand. Note that you should be precise as much as possible when you are describing the information you desire to obtain. You can also write a formal letter requesting access to information instead of the application form
  4. Once you have completed the form, submit it to the Ministry’s office in person to the ATI unit
  5. Upon receipt of your application, the ATI will issue you an acknowledgment of the application within 30 days of the receipt of the application
  6. They will then process your application and contact you via your contact details when the information you requested is available as requested
  7. Pay for the information according to the copies you wish to apply for. You may, however, request a waiver, remission, or reduction of those fees.
  8. Upon payment, the information will be packaged and released to you.

InstructionsEdit

  • Your Application may be transferred to another government entity if the document requested is held by that other entity or the subject matter of what you requested is more closely connected to that other entity’s functions.
  • The transfer must be done not later than 14 days after receipt of your Application by the original government body and you must be informed immediately of this transfer and told the details of the receiving government body and personnel.
