Procedure

1. Transfer of vehicle ownership can be accomplished in post office where there is a Postal Bank is available around Israel. Following is the list of post offices which can provide this service : [1] (in Hebrew).
2. Vehicle license, identity card of the buyer and seller and the appropriate fee related to the transfer of vehicle is required.
3. if there is no lien or attachment on the vehicle and the vehicle license is valid the registration will be accomplished right away.
4. Is it also your responsibility to check whether there is any lien or any attachment by checking with the Registrar of Pledge at Misrad Hamishpatim (Ministry of Justice).

Required Documents

• Buyer and seller should have their ID cards.
• If he buyer or seller is a representative with a power of attorney, they must present an original power of attorney document from the Ministry of Transportation.

Instructions

• Change of ownership must be registered within 15 days from the date of sale.
• Until transfer of ownership is concluded, the vehicle remains registered in the name of the previous owner, who will continue to receive any tickets, fines and attachments. Therefore, it is recommended that transfer of ownership be carried out before the buyer takes possession of the vehicle.
