Apply by mail

1. To Get a Permit or License for Temporary Importation of Firearms and Ammunition by Non-immigrant Aliens, the applicant has to make the application to the U.S. Department of Justice (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) link

2. The applicant has to download the application form from the following link
3. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
4. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
6. Mail the completed form and the necessary documents to Federal Firearms Licensing Centre, the office address details are mentioned under the “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page.
7. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
8. Once the application fee is processed, the Federal Firearms Licensing Centre (FFLC) will enter the application information into its database and commence a full review of the application.
9. Then the application will be processed further. All the updates on the application status will be sent via SMS to the applicant’s mobile number.
10. Once the process gets completed successfully, the applicant will get the license through the mail.
11. The processing time will take approximately 30 days from the receipt of a properly completed application.
