Apply In-Person

  1. To renew Truck Permit in Chandigarh the applicant has to approach the RTO office to which his area belongs to. Please follow our “Office Locations & Contacts” section of this page to get details of the RTO offices.
  2. Make sure you have completed application form for renewing Truck Permit. Application forms can be obtained from the appropriate RTO offices that can be completed and presented with appropriate fees
  3. Please make sure you have all the documents that are listed down the “Required Document” section of this page.
  4. Present the completed application forms in one of the counter and pay the appropriate fee where the officials would start processing your application.
  5. After checking the vehicle for its correctness and other appropriate requirements the application will be processed. Important verifications for the permit includes Vehicle condition, Body built etc., will be carried by authorities.

  • Original Permit
  • Registration Certificate
  • Valid Fitness Certificate
  • Valid Insurance Certificate
  • No-objection Certificate from the financier if the vehicle is covered by hire purchase Agreement/Hypothecation/Lease
  • Payment of green tax wherever applicable
  • Pollution under control certificate
  • Proof of payment of tax for the current quarter
  • Aadhaar card

  • Usually permit is valid for 5 years
  • Renewal of permit can be obtained with Vehicle fitness certificate and FC as per authorities of concerned RTO.
  • The age of the vehicle also limits the validity

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • A Regional Transport Authority may, on an application made to it under Rule 174 (iv) of the Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 grant a goods carriage permit to be valid throughout the State
  • This permit need to be renewed before the validity of the permit lapses to ply the vehicle for the service.
  • Truck Permit is needed for a vehicle operator to ply his vehicle to carry goods from one place to another.
  • Vehicles with this permit……
  • Be used only in a specified area or on a specified route or routes
  • That goods of a specified nature shall not be carried
  • That goods shall be carried at specified rates etc.;,
  • The age of the vehicle should not exceed 12 years.

  • Holder of the permit shall furnish to the Regional Transport Authority such periodical returns, statistics and other information as the State Government may, from time to time, prescribe.
  • FC (for clearance) is a process meant for reviewing the condition of the vehicle by the RTO authorities
