ProcedureEdit

In Person

  1. Go to a drivers license office
  2. Complete a drivers license application, to save you some time you can:
    1. Fill out and print the application ahead of time online and bring it with you when you go to the office, or
    2. You can schedule an appointment prior to your visit to avoid waiting in line.
  3. Have your photo taken.
  4. Pass the eye test.
  5. Complete the medical questionnaire.
  6. Present proof of birth, full social security number, current Utah driver license, and if your residence has changed from what is on your current driver license, or you don't have your current driver license in possession, you will be required to provide two proofs of your Utah residence.
  7. Pass a 25 question open-book test; and
  8. Pay the nonrefundable fee of $25.00.

Note: A 25 question written test may be required if you have had more than 4 citations in 5 years, have been suspended or revoked, or your license has been expired for more than 6 months.


Renew Online

Those who have received a letter in the mail with a pin number to RENEW ONLINE, you may visit the LINK to start the renewal process. You can renew your Utah driver license 6 months prior to the expiration date.

The online renewal service is limited to license/ID Card holders who have already verified their identity with the Driver License Division after January 1, 2010. If qualified, you will have received a notice by mail with your PIN authorization. If you need to verify your identity, you will need to schedule an appointment using the Driver License Online Scheduling Application.

  • Administrative fee for providing the driving record of an operator (MVR) $6.00 -
  • Certified Record (includes copy of MVR) :
    • First of 15 pages: $10.75
    • 16 - 30 pages: $15.75
    • 31 - 45 pages: $20.75
    • 46 or more pages: $25.75
