The list above shows which countries requires either IDP. Should both permits be required, you will need to include two photographs and two fees with your application. No more than one permit of each type may be issued to an applicant.

The AA is authorised to issue both types of International Driving Permits to applicants.

Required InformationEdit

A list which displays the kind of information which is required to complete the procedure.
e.g.
1. Date of Birth.
2. City or County of Birth.

Need for the DocumentEdit

Recognized internationally, an International Driving Permit normally allows its holder to drive a private motor vehicle without further formality. Persons going to a country for longer than three months, to take up residence or employment, or for any reason other than tourism, should make enquiries about their personal position before relying on a permit.

Here is a procedure on how you can apply for an International Driving Permit in Guernsey.

Information which might helpEdit

Keep in mind that it is an offence to drive a vehicle without a valid driving licence and, where required, a permit.

When driving outside Guernsey, do not forget to bring with you your national driving licence along with your International Driving Permit.

The IDP is only a translation of your entitlement to drive on your national driving licence, therefore, although those drivers with licences to drive Categories C1 or D1 will see that Categories C or D has been stamped on the IDP, they are only entitled to drive C1 or D1 vehicles overseas.

Other uses of the Document/CertificateEdit

Please explain what are other uses of obtaining this document/certificate.
e.g. Birth Certificate can be used as proof of identity.
