Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Renew Air Traffic Controller License in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.

3. Application form should obtain from the respective office.
4. Also, make sure that the applicant has all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed application form and pay the required application fee and submit the receipt as a proof of payment.
7. The receiving officers will check for discrepancies or ineligibility in the application documents. If a discrepancy that cannot be immediately corrected exists in any of the documents, the application and all the submitted documents will be returned to the applicant and should not be re-submitted until the discrepancy has been rectified/ corrected.
8. If the receiving officers is satisfied that all the requirements have been met for the renewal of a license and the prescribed application form has been completed and presented in the Personnel Licensing (PEL) Office, the applicant will be advised to pay the prescribed renewal application fees, after which the license will be issued.
9. A renewal processing 7 days is needed to complete the processing of the Air Traffic Controller License application, after which you will be contacted through a phone call to collect him/her new license at the GCAA’s Personnel Licensing offices.
10. Applicant will be required to carry the applicant’s identification documents when collecting his/her renewed license.

• A properly completed prescribed Application Form
• A current Class 3 medical certificate
• A knowledge test report
• An ATO Certificate certifying that the applicant has received and passed an approved training course in air traffic control
• An air traffic controllers licence
• Personal records substantiating the practical experience shown on the Application Form;
• Two current passport size photographs (full face)
• A photo identification card or Passport
• Evidence of payment

Eligibility

• An air traffic controller licence may be renewed if the holder demonstrates, at a level appropriate to the privileges being renewed, the skill, judgement and performance required to provide a safe, orderly and expeditious control service within the six months preceding the date of application for renewal.

Fees

• Renewal of ATC Licence (Over 40 years) - GHS 2000.
• Renewal of ATC Licence (under 40 years) - GHS 4000.

Instructions

The applicant should:

• Complete the prescribed renewal application form.
• Submit the completed form with all the required documents.
• Pay the applicable fees and submit the payment receipt.
• Wait for evaluation and inspection by the Authority.
• Wait for the processing period to elapse then collect the applicant’s renewed License.

Required Information

• Name of applicant
• Business address of applicant
• If the applicant is a company (registered office, company registration no, date of incorporation, operating or business name and address of correspondence)
• Nationality of applicant
• State the type of service applied for (i.e. whether scheduled air service, non- scheduled air service, aerial work service, flying instructions, etc.)
• List all other air services operated by the applicant at the time of this application and give the relevant license numbers
• Enumerate particulars of working arrangements that the applicant has with any other company operating an air service
• Financial particulars
• Terms and conditions of employment in the company
• Particulars of any experience of air transport operations or any other relevant experience of the directors and senior management employees of the company
• Aircraft and equipment (state the aircraft which you employ or intend to employ on air services applied for giving particulars)
• Liability for loss or damage information
• Declaration

Need for the Document

• It also allows the applicant to continue engaging in Air controller in Ghana.
• This allows application/ certificate allows the authority to regulate activities of maintenance organizations.

Information which might help

• In respect of air carriers of other States, the Authority may accept as sufficient evidence, the production of licences, certificates and documents issued by competent authorities in the States of origin regarding the competence, technical and financial fitness of the air carriers.
