ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person

  1. To Obtain Pharmacists License in Ghana, the applicant must go to the Ghana Ministry of Health (MOH).
  2. Address and contact details can be found in the following contact link
  3. Applicant must obtain the application form from the MOH.
  4. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
  5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  6. On completion of this process, the Board will, within sixty days of receipt of the application, issue to the applicant a practicing license in the prescribed form upon being satisfied that the applicant:
    • Is duly registered or enrolled.
    • Is not for the time being suspended from practice and
    • Has complied with such other conditions as the Board may prescribe including fulfilment of the prescribed requirements for continuous professional education for that year.
  7. The processing time for this procedure takes sixty days.

  • Proof of registration certificate
  • Proof of Identification and Proof of residence in state applying for registration
  • Date of Birth Proof
  • Practical training certificate (For D. Pharmacy students only)
  • Proof of Prescribed fee
  • Photographs
  • Affidavit if required
  • Original character certificate / College Leaving Certificate/Migration /transfer certificate
  • Letter from pharmacy institution/college showing its approval from PCI for the year in which candidate qualifies for its diploma/degree
  • Diploma Degree certificate
  • Any other document asked by state pharmacy council

  • No person is allowed to engage in practice as a pharmacist unless that person holds a valid practicing license.

Restrictions on use of Pharmacists

  • A person who is not a pharmacist shall not describe himself or hold himself out to be a pharmacist by the use of the terms `pharmacist', `chemist', `dispenser of drugs', `druggist', `compounder of drugs', or any other similar term.
  • No person shall open or permit any other person to open any premises to the public under the description of `pharmacy', `dispensary', `chemist', `drug store' or any other similar description unless a registered pharmacist is on the premises to supervise the dispensing of drugs or medication.
