ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Obtain an Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License in Ghana, the applicant has to contact the nearest Civil Aviation Authority Office in Ghana.

  3. The   applicant   shall   submit a written application together with one passport size photograph and pay the prescribed fee and shall complete an application form.
  4. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section or this page.
  5. When all the conditions have been met, and have been satisfactorily certified by the Authority’s Licensing Office, the applicant will be advised to pay the prescribed fees found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  6. After paying the prescribed fees, the applicant is issued an Aircraft maintenance engineer’s Licence within 7 days.

InstructionsEdit

  • An applicant for an AMEL should submit the license in the English language or accompanied by an English language translation that has been signed by an official or representative of the foreign authority that issued the license.
  • The applicant shall meet the applicable aeronautical experience requirements specified under the Regulations. In addition to the requirements of regulations above the applicant shall pass a knowledge test in:
    • Air law
    • Applicable Airworthiness requirements governing certification and continuing airworthiness
    • Approved maintenance organizations and procedures and
    • Human factor.
  • The applicant is required to have passed the air law and composite paper for conversion of a foreign license within a period of six months preceding the date of the application for the license.
  • The Authority shall verify the authenticity of the foreign license, ratings and authorizations presented for conversion with the state of issue.
  • An applicant for conversion who fails the knowledge test is disqualified for further testing until after a proven practical experience of one month is gained.

Need for the DocumentEdit

  • In order to be granted authorization to issue certificates of release to service after maintenance on a Ghana registered aircraft, a person must hold a valid license issued by the Authority in accordance with the Civil Aviation (Personnel Licensing) Regulations.
