Procedure

• You can write to the DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY to update your record.
• You can also go to the Driver Service Center and complete a Change of Address Form.

Online

• Go to State of Tennessee Online Driver Services.
• Choose the kind of online service you want to avail.
• Provide your TN driver's license or ID card number, TN address and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
• Pay the appropriate fees via credit card (if a new license with your new address is to be processed).

Instructions

• Notify the Department of Safety and Homeland Security of any address change within 10 days of that change.
• There is no fee to change your address.
• The law does not require the address to be changed on your actual license, just on the DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY files.
• The easiest way to change your address is online.
• If you want a new license issued that reflects this change, you must either apply online or go to a driver services center, pay the appropriate fees and have a new license issued. A duplicate fee ranging from 8 dollars to 16 dollars will be charged.

• Date of birth
• Driver License Number
• Social Security Number
• Old address that appears on current driver license
• New address
• County of your new address

Need for the Document

Notification to the proper authorities as to your change of address is very important. You are required to notify the Department of Safety and Homeland Security within 10 days from the date of change.
