Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain Taxi Cabs license in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Head Office in Ghana contact link
2. Applicant must obtain the application form from the respective office.
3. Applicant has to enter all the information in the application form.
4. Information related to the DVLA office and the License authority can be obtained from the “Office locations and contacts” section of this page.
5. The applicant has to make sure that he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
6. Applicant must make sure to carry both photocopies and originals of all the documents that are necessary for completing this procedure.
7. Pay the appropriate fees where the officials would start processing the application.
8. Present his/her valid existing Ghanaians cab license and after validation and his/her verification will requested to pay the necessary fees. More details about fee are mentioned in the ‘fees” section of this page.
9. If everything is successful, the applicant will be provided with a taxi cab License.
10. Generally, the processing time for this procedure takes 2 to 5 days.

Instructions

• Must be fitted with an Electronic Monitoring Device (tracking device)
• The driver must wear a Transport Authority identification badge
• The driver of every taxi should be in possession of a PPV driver’s licence
• Must be attired in approved uniform

• Applicant should be physically present in the license office where the applicant’s requesting for conversion of foreign driver license to Ghanaian driver license.
• Approach any of the nearest DVLA office with the information provided under the heading "Office Location and Contacts" of this page.
• Present the applicant’s valid existing Ghanaian driver license and after validation and verification the applicant’s will be requested to pay the necessary fees.
• If everything is successful, the applicant will be provided with a temporary Driver License.
