Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Apply for Surface Water Permit in Ghana, the applicant has to approach the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) contact link
2. Applicant then is required to purchase application form at a rate that may be determined by the GWCL branch office within the district where the service is required.
3. Read carefully through the application form as it contains different section, if the applicant encounter any difficult, please ask for assistance from the supporting staff.
4. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
6. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents to the attending staff for verification and processing.
7. This application will be processed and information will be verified by the GWCL.
8. If all the above mentioned procedures were followed properly by the applicant, the application form will be viewed by concerned authorities and the applicant will be notified regarding their license.
9. The applicant after seeing the notification can go to the NPA office and applicant get the certificate.
10. The Processing time for this procedure is 10 days.

• A permit from the Directorate of Water Resources Management is required for private property construction, alteration or repair work on buildings within the City.
