ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Private Practice License-Nurses in person, the applicant has to approach the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. contact link
  2. Applicant should obtain the application form from NMC department.
  3. The application must be completed in full and be presented to the Registrar, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana through your institution of training.
  4. All applications must be accompanied with a copy of your National Identity Card [ID]/passport. Applicants for re-entry to examination must also attach the previous NMC Examination Result Slip.
  5. Payment of appropriate fees should be made and that can be found under the "Fees" section of this page.
  6. Make all necessary payments to obtain application forms and all other necessary documents.
  7. Also, make sure that you have all the documents listed in the “Required documents” section of this page.
  8. Attach the all documents to the forms before submission application to the authority.
  9. The applicant should make sure they are eligible for applying for temporary nursing license by reading through the eligibility criteria that has been listed out under the “Eligibility” section of this page.
  10. Submit the completed form in two copies along with the supporting documents to the NMC office.
  11. After the notified period applicant gets certificate as per applicable delivery norms.
  12. The processing time for this procedure takes 30 days.

  • Transcript of training (To be mailed to the Council directly).
  • 3 Passport size photographs.
  • Copy of Birth Certificate.
  • Photocopies of Professional Certificates (original copy to be presented for inspection).
  • Copy of your National Identity Card [ID]/passport
  • NMC Examination Result Slip.
  • Recommendation letter from employer.
  • Photocopy of latest renewal of professional license.
  • Inspection form – obtained from UNMC –completed and stamped by the DHOs office.
  • 2 passport size photographs

EligibilityEdit

  • A registered nurse who has served in a hospital or approved health unit for not less than ten years and has a current license to practice.( Private General Nursing Clinic)
  • A registered or enrolled midwife who has served in a hospital or approved health unit for not less than five years and has a current license to practice.( Private Midwifery Practice)



FeesEdit

  • 10,000/= For photographs for Certificate
  • 120,000/= Enrollment fee or US $ 200 for Non –Ghanaians
  • 150,000/= Registration fee or US $ 200 for Non –Ghanaians
  • 50,000/= Additional Diploma fee for RCN or US $ 50 for Non –Ghanaians
  • 13,000/= Professional ID Card
  • 1,000/= Continuing Education Diary
  • 5,000/= Professional Code of Conduct
  • 10,000/= Nurses Act (1996)
  • 25,000/= Midwifery Handbook



ValidityEdit

  • Private General nursing clinic and midwifery domiciliary clinic licenses are valid for one year and must be renewed by 31 March of each year.
