ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To Apply for Press Accreditation Card in person, the applicant has to approach the ministry of foreign affairs and regional integration. Contact link
  2. Applicant has to enter all information in the application form.
  3. Attach Two-passport size photographs and a Scanned Copy of your Passport Can be attached physically or electronically.
  4. Make sure that his/her have all the documents listed in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
  5. Please refer to the fees details in the “Fees” section of this page. Pay the appropriate fees where the officials would start processing your application.
  6. After filling the form proceed to pay the prescribed fee.
  7. Submit the completed form along with the supporting documents, which will be forwarded to the Director of Information Services Department in Accra for processing.
  8. Press accreditation process is considered complete at the Media Council offices after payment of the prescribed fees and issuance of an accreditation card.
  9. Submit the dully filled in form G and attached with pay slip to the Authorized Officer in charge of the foreign media whose officers shall carryout inspection of your foreign mass media organisation.
  10. Collect your Accreditation card from where your application was submitted within 30 days from the date the application was received at Media council in case there is no rejection.

  • Original certificate of registration (Mass media organisation name)
  • Certificate of incorporation (Company)
  • Tax clearance certificate
  • Two-passport size photographs and a Scanned Copy of your Passport
  • A letter from an employer
  • Professional Certificate (ORIGINAL) that is either a Degree of Diploma in Communication from a recognized training institution.
  • A reference letter from an organization that publishes your work
  • A clear passport size digital photograph
  • Valid Work permit
  • Passport
  • A letter from training institution indicating that the student is to go for internship.
  • Valid Student ID.

EligibilityEdit

The following cadre of people is eligible for accreditation:

  • Journalists working in media enterprises.
  • Freelance journalists.
  • Students pursuing media, journalism and communication studies.
  • Public Relations Practitioners.
  • Advertising Companies.
  • Media Trainers.



FeesEdit

  • A fee, the cedi equivalent of USD 80.00 per head covers only one visit.
  • A fee USD 200 per head is charged for the issue of accreditation covering a period of one year.



ValidityEdit

  • Press Accreditation Permit validity for 3 year.

InstructionsEdit

  • In the event of the need for corresponds to travel at short notice to cover breaking news in Ghana, permission can be sought through the director of information services in Accra through Ghana Diplomatic mission.
  • Request for interview with the President should be submitted through the Mission accompanied by questions for the interview. The questions should be received in Accra not less than four (4) weeks before the arrival of the correspondent in the country.
  • Requests for interview with Ministers of State and Government officials should be made through the Information Services Department.
