Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. In order to get a Family Child Care Home License in person, the applicant has to approach the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection(MOGCSP) office Contact link
2. The applicant has to make sure he or she has all the required documents that are required for this process to be successful and they can be found under the "Required Documents" section of this page.
3. A fee for this procedure is has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
4. Applicant must attend an orientation
   • Applicant may register for an in-person orientation. In-person orientations are scheduled on a regular basis throughout Ghana.
   • There is an orientation fee and it is non- refundable, so be sure that the applicants meet the qualifications for a license before him/her sign up for an orientation.
   • Applicant may sign up for an in-person orientation by viewing the orientation schedules and contacting his/her local Regional Office. The Regional Office directory will show he/she what counties each Child Care Licensing office covers. Online orientations are available as soon as he/she registers.
5. Applicant must be familiar with all Family Child Care Home licensing laws and regulations.
   • The Family Child Care Home licensing requirements are available on their Laws and Regulations page.
6. Applicant must complete and submit all the information and forms required in the application packet. The respective office will not accept his /her application until after he/she has completed the orientation. There is an application fee that is non-refundable.
7. Applicant must undergo a pre-licensing inspection. A Licensing Program Analyst will contact the applicant to schedule an inspection of his/her home.
8. If applicants are ready to sign up for an orientation, please view the orientation schedules and contact their local licensing office or register for an online orientation.
9. Generally, the processing time for this procedure takes 1 month.
