Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Request for Early or Partial Withdrawal of FNPF (Fiji National Provident Fund) Money for Funeral, the applicant must visit the Fiji National Provident Fund office. Contact Link
2. The application form must be obtained from the authorities in the FNPF office, or else it can be downloaded from the website. Application Form
3. Make sure that you have all the documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
4. The application form should be filled with necessary details, and along with the required documents, it should be submitted to the respective authority in the FNPF office.
5. After submitting the application form, the authorities will verify the application details.
6. If the supporting documents are legitimate, then the early withdrawal money will be approved for Funeral assistance.
7. The processing fee for the application is $10.00, and it can be paid in Cash and/or deducted from the Member’s General Account.
8. The application will be processed in 3 working days from the date of submission by the member of FNPF.

Required Documents

• Dully Filled Application Form
• An original or certified copy of the birth certificate. (Post 2000)
• An original or certified copy of the marriage certificate. (Post 2000)
• Medical Certificate of Cause of Death stamped & signed by the authorised medical official or Death Certificate.

Funeral Assistance:

• Supporting Document. Form
• Documentary evidence is required to confirm the relationship between the member, deceased person and the person declaring.
• If applying for assistance for the death of a sibling, a statutory declaration is required from the next of kin or other siblings authorizing you to receive assistance and confirm the marital status of the deceased.
• Latest bank statement. (No more than one month old).
• Original or certified birth certificate printed after year 2000 of deceased member. (latest extract from the Registrar General’s Office containing the “deceased” water mark will be required for members who died overseas).

Note: All document copies must be certified by either a FNPF officer, Justice of Peace or Commissioner for Oath.

Eligibility

• The general account holder members of FNPF are eligible to apply for early withdrawal of Fiji National Provident Fund for the purpose are funding the Education of the applicant/spouse/children/brother/sister/parents.

Fees

• The processing fee for the application is $10.00.

Validity

• The validity period will be intimated to the applicant by the authorities in the FNPF office.

Instructions

For Funeral Assistance:

• Maximum withdrawal amount is $2,000 for each funeral.
• Next of kin can only apply for this assistance 30 working days from the date of death.
• If the deceased does not qualify for Special Death Benefits withdrawal of $2,000.

Note: The Fund will not assist for payment of consultation or observation fees where member/patient is admitted for less than 24 hrs.

Need for the Document

• If the general account holder members of FNPF wants to withdraw early or partial withdrawal of their Fiji National Provident Fund for the purpose are funding the Funeral Assistance of the spouse/children/brother/sister/parents, then they must get the approval from the authorities in the FNPF by filing the application.

Information which might help

• Any Early Withdrawal will reduce future Early Withdrawal Entitlements, also reducing your retirement funds for pension or lump sum payment upon reaching the qualifying age of 55 years or upon full withdrawal.
• For first housing transfers of 51%, note that your General Account will zerorise, until after the Preserved Account is replenished with the transferred amount or after 5 years, whichever comes first.
