Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. For renewal of Coffee Dealers License, the applicant has to approach Ministry of Coffee and Tea Authority in Ethiopia. contact link
2. Applicant has to get the form from the respective office.
3. Applicant has to fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
4. Applicant must make sure to carry documents that are listed under “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and originals).
5. Applicant should attach the photocopies along with the application form.
6. Submit the completed application form along with the required documents and pay the required application fee of and submit the receipt as proof of payment.
7. This is followed by an inspection of applicants by the Board Field Officers
8. The Board field officers will inspect the application make recommendations on the application and forward their report forwarded to Board’s Headquarters for the ultimate Board approval.
9. Fee for this procedure is 500birr.
10. Upon the successful registration, the renewal of license will be issued within 7days.

Required Documents

• A certified copy of certificate of incorporation
• A certified copy of memorandum and articles of association
• Names of company directors, individual National ID/Passport No, Pin Numbers and certificate of good conduct
• Names and addresses of two business referees
• Tax compliance certificate from Ethiopia Revenue Authority for the Company and Directors.
• Clearance letter from the Coffee Exchange
• Proof of engaging the services of a coffee liquored registered by the Directorate.
• Undertaking to furnish the Directorate with monthly returns.
• Any other requirements that may be prescribed by the Directorate from time to time.
• If applicant is a registered business, the certificate of registration and particulars of the proprietors.
• A statement of the un-audited accounts for the period of accounting year ending not earlier than six months prior to the date of application and audited annual accounts for the preceding two years (in the case of application of licence), management accounts up to the 30th November and audited annual accounts for the preceding year (in the case of renewal of licence)

Eligibility

• Any person, cooperative society, group or company who wants to buy coffee at the Exchange or to import coffee in Ethiopia is eligible to make this application.

Fees

• Fee to renew a coffee dealer license is 500birr.

Validity

• The license is valid for the period of one year.

Need for the Document

• A Coffee Dealers License is a license authorizing the holder to buy or deal in clean coffee produced in Ethiopia or to import clean coffee from outside Ethiopia and to process in Ethiopia for sale or export coffee to any country of origin and deal in roasting, blending and packaging coffee for local sale or export.
• No person can deal/trade in coffee unless he/she is the holder of a current license issued in respect thereof by the Board after consultation with the Director.
