ProcedureEdit

Apply In-Person:

  1. To obtain Licence to Operate a Private Museum the applicant has to approach National Museum of Ethiopia location link
  2. The authority officer provides an application form and advices the applicant to provide the writings of evidence that includes
    • That the applicant has a facility which qualifies to be used as a museum within the meaning of the law
    • That the applicant already has in his possession a substantial collection for exhibition
    • That the applicant is able to provide professional and authoritative expertise and advice in relation to the proposed activities of the museum to the public
    • The tenure building in which the proposed museum is located and the name and qualifications of the proposed curator for the museum.
  3. Make sure you have all the documents mentioned in “Required Documents” section of this page.
  4. Applicant has to attach the photocopies along with the application form and submit the application form.
  5. After submitting the evidences, validation/verification is done.
  6. After verification, the legal officer may,
    • Grant the licence without conditions
    • Grant the licence, subject to such conditions as he may consider appropriate
    • Direct that the premises in respect of which the application is made be modified in a specified manner and the application for the licence resubmitted; or
    • Refuse the application, and give reasons for the decision.
