Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. The application form for changing of aircraft ownership is available in the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority contact link
2. Applicant should fill-in all the necessary details in the application form.
3. Applicant should make sure to carry all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page (Both photocopies and Originals).
4. Applicant should attach the photocopies of the necessary documents (whichever is necessary) along with the application form while submitting.
5. Please pay as per the request of the authority.
6. If all the above-mentioned procedures were followed by the applicant properly, then, the process will get completed within 90 working days.
7. If the applicant didn’t get the cancellation within three months, then, they can reach out to the office for getting information on their application.

Instructions

The person who is changing the ownership and the person to whose name the aircraft is going to be changed should be present at the office during the name-changing process.

• Year of manufacture
• Model
• Manufacturer
• Aircraft type
• Horsepower
• Date aircraft entered Ethiopia
• Date aircraft was purchased
• Where the aircraft is usually based
  

Need for the Document

• When an aircraft that is registered in Ethiopia is sold, the holder of the certificate of registration shall remove, before its delivery to the purchaser, all nationality and registration marks of Ethiopia, unless the purchaser is a citizen or other legal entity as prescribed in Regulation of the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority Regulations:
• Any person intending to take ownership, or to become the charterer of, an aircraft on the Ethiopian Register of Civil Aircraft is advised to check the registered ownership of the aircraft and to conduct a search of the Ethiopian Register of Aircraft Mortgages before completion of the transaction.
