ProcedureEdit

1.The Embassy will inform the next-of-kin

2. Next of kin to visit the embassy of the country the deceased was living in.

3. The embassy will request for some documents from the next of kin, and also the funeral home holding the body in that country will contact the embassy for relevant clearance letters. They (the embassy) may also give the next of kin some forms to fill.

4. Each country has its own procedures for dealing with repatriation of the bodies of the deceased.

5. Identify a funeral home to take and preserve the body once it arrives.

When a body is embalmed, Egyptian law specifies no particular time period before burial.

When a body is not embalmed, local law requires its burial within 24 hours. The requirement may be waived for exceptional reasons (such as waiting for instructions from abroad), or if an autopsy is required.
