Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. To Obtain License or Permit to Export minerals, the applicant must approach the Egyptian Company for mineral resources Contact link
2. The applicant can collect the application Form from the office of the Ministry of the Interior.
3. Fill the forms with the right information to facilitate the process.
4. Fill in all the necessary details in the application and submit with supporting documents as mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
5. A fees for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request.
6. The application form duly completed in all respect, the application letter, and the relevant supporting documentation should be submitted to the nearest Department.
7. If the application is submitted on your behalf by a consultant, the applicant should include a letter naming the consultant as their representative. The applicant should include their postal address, telephone, and fax numbers.
8. Upon receipt of the application file, the receiving officer will verify if all the necessary information and documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before registering the file.
9. Applicants will be issued with an acknowledgment letter as proof of submission of the application.
10. The application file is then forwarded to the Director of Mines, where it is reviewed and consideration made, which is within 7 working days.
11. If approved; the mineral sample export permit will be drawn up as directed by the Director of Mines, signed and stamped, and made available to be issued to the applicant at the dispatch office at the specific department of mines office, where the application was lodged.
12. The applicant will be required to produce a proof of identity document and acknowledgment letter and pay the permit fee while collecting the Permit.

Eligibility

• Only companies incorporated in Egypt are granted rights to undertake reconnaissance, exploration or mining operations.
• Non-citizens may apply for a mineral right in respect of industrial minerals if the proposed investment in mineral operations is above $ 10 million.

Fees

• A fees for this procedure has to be paid as per the authority’s request

Validity

• An applicant can apply for restricted prospecting license which is valid for 3years. A prospecting license shall be granted for an initial period not exceeding three years.
