- To Obtain a Gunsmiths License, the applicant has to approach the Federal Police Brazil – link
- Enrol in a gunsmith course offered by a recognized institution or training center. These courses typically cover topics such as firearm mechanics, maintenance, repair, and safety procedures. Completing a gunsmith course is usually a prerequisite for obtaining a gunsmith license.
- Upon successfully completing the gunsmith course, obtain a certificate or diploma of completion. This certificate will serve as proof of your training and qualification as a gunsmith.
- The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
- An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
- Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
- The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
- Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
- The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
- After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
- An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
- As part of the licensing process, authorities may conduct a background check and inspect the premises where the applicant intends to operate as a gunsmith. This is to ensure compliance with safety and security requirements.
- Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
- If the application is approved, the applicant will receive a license or permit from the office.
- This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
