Apply In Person

1. To Obtain a Gunsmiths License, the applicant has to approach the Federal Police Brazil – link
2. Enrol in a gunsmith course offered by a recognized institution or training center. These courses typically cover topics such as firearm mechanics, maintenance, repair, and safety procedures. Completing a gunsmith course is usually a prerequisite for obtaining a gunsmith license.
3. Upon successfully completing the gunsmith course, obtain a certificate or diploma of completion. This certificate will serve as proof of your training and qualification as a gunsmith.
4. The applicant has to visit the office with the request letter.
5. An application form will be provided to the applicant by the concerned officer.
6. The applicant has to fill in all the necessary details in the application form. (Incomplete applications are not accepted)
7. Make sure that the applicant has attached all the necessary documents that are mentioned in the “Required Documents” section of this page.
8. The applicant has to attach photocopies of the required documents along with the application form while submitting it.
9. Submit all the documents with the completed form to the concerned officer.
10. The applicant has to pay the prescribed fee as requested by the authority.
11. After receiving the application, the concerned authority will check the submitted application and document set. If all are in place, the application will be accepted.
12. An acknowledgment receipt will be provided. Please save it for future reference.
13. As part of the licensing process, authorities may conduct a background check and inspect the premises where the applicant intends to operate as a gunsmith. This is to ensure compliance with safety and security requirements.
14. Once the process gets completed, the applicant gets a call from the office regarding the application.
15. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive a license or permit from the office.
16. This entire process can be completed within 15 - 20 days or as per the timeline advised by the respective department authority.
