Procedure

Apply In-Person:

1. One should conduct and visit any Department of Water Affairs (DWA) offices countrywide for consultation and file the application with the department
2. Application form,( form GS 184 ) can be obtained from the above offices, or click the link below to download Assets
3. The application form should be filled by the driller accurately, a sample material should be accompanied by the form and submitted for processing and verification
4. If the DWA officer is satisfied that the site (area) is suitable for the drilling of the borehole.
5. Information obtained from the from GS 184 will be registered into the register book and you will be allocated a borehole registration number and issued with a borehole registration certificate

• Chip samples form the site (soil/rock)
• Signing of the chip samples submission form
• Land rights certificate from land board

Eligibility

• Any person living in Botswana and needs to drill a borehole

Fees

• Registration service is free
• Water resource map photocopy costs P6.00 and digital copy cost P10.00,
• Hydrogeology reconnaissance map (1:500 000) costs P30.00 and 1:1000000 costs P50.00,
• Photocopy of certificates cost P0.50t per A4 sheet

• The registration certificated Valid Forever but may be invoked and cancelled if the

• Visit any DWA offices countrywide and you will get assisted over the counter
• Application form GS 184 to be filled by the driller and accompanied with the soil/rock sample of the site and any other document as specified by the register
• Register information from GS 184 form into the register book
• issue a borehole number and fill it into the borehole certificate by the register
