ProcedureEdit

How to Apply:

  1. You should contact the Ministry of Transport and Communications or permit-issuing offices at any of the Department of Road Transport and Safety offices near you for more information on how to file the application.
  2. Accurately fill in the application form, which can be obtained from the above offices or click the link below to downloadForms
  3. Submit the completed form along with the required supporting documentation (as listed below)to the Transport Controller at any of the permit-issuing offices for verification and processing.
  4. If the licencing issuingoffice issatisfied that you have complied with the all conditions as set for the application of the permit, he or she will then issue you with Permit immediately upon payment of the required fee.

Required DocumentsEdit

  • Letter addressed to the Transport Controller requesting permission to transport specific group of named persons, from specified origin to specified destination.
  • Two copies of a separate list of named passengers.
  • Copy of the vehicle's registration document (blue book).
  • Copy of vehicle's valid Roadworthiness Certificate.
  • Certified copy of applicant's National ID/ Omang (individuals).
  • Copy of company's Registration Certificate.

EligibilityEdit

  • Any owner of a minibus or bus that does not already have a passenger permit assigned to it, and is a Botswana citizen or locally registered business, may apply.

FeesEdit

The per vehicle charges of:

  • Application fee of BWP100.00.
  • BWP32.50, for combis, and BWP52.50 for buses.
  • Additional BWP100.00 for applicants wishing to cross the border into a Southern African Customs Union (SACU) country.

InstructionsEdit

  • The application form must be signed by the person requiring the permit or, if made by any corporate body or partnership firm, by an authorized person acting on their behalf, or partner of the partnership firm, as the case may be.
  • All information required the application form must be given; it is not sufficient to write “as before” etc. Additional information may be given on a separate sheet of paper if there is insufficient room on the form.
  • You are strongly warned not to purchase any motor vehicles or trailers in anticipation of your application being granted
