Apply In Person:

  1. The Botswana government dosent issue a fishing control permit, instead it issues the Commercial Fishing License, which helps to regulate over fishing on it waters, the application for the permit shall be made to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks office (DWNP) office. Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism office Contact Details
  2. Applicants(citizens) should submit all the supporting documentation as listed on the “Required Documents” section of this page to the nearest Department of Wildlife and National Parks office (DWNP) office for consideration.
  3. Application shall also be accompanied by a licensing fees of BWP 200.00 for 3 consecutive seasons
  4. Upon receipt of the completed dossier the DWNP Licensing and Registration officer will then verify if all the documentation has been provided and that the applications comply with the selection criteria before drawing up the Commericial Fishing Licence or Permit as directed by the Director, using the Commericial Fishing License Form TO BE COMPLETED BY THE DWNP LICENSING OFFICER.
  5. The license /permit will be affixed with the DWNP stamp in red ink on top of the Directors/Authorized official signature before being issued to the applicant.
  6. The permit/license shall be subject to such terms and conditions as the Director deems fit to impose in each case, and such terms and conditions or requirements shall be endorsed on the permit.
  7. The licensee will be required to submit a monthly catch records to the nearest fisheries office. The period of time during which fish may be caught shall be the period beginning on 1st March and ending on 31st December every year.


Appeals to the Minister:

  • Any person who is aggrieved by the refusal of the Director to grant a permit, or by any terms imposed by the Director to grant a permit, may appeal against the refusal or the terms and conditions to the Minister within 30 day
