Procedure

Apply In Person

1. The application for Letlole National Savings Certificate (NSC) shall be applied through any of the Botswana Saving Bank (BSB) branch offices.BSB Branch Offices Contact Details
2. Applicants are required to collect the BSB Account Application Form, obtainable for free at any of the BSB branch offices customer care desk, or download it via the BSB website, BSB downloadable forms, or download it directly using this link, Account Application Form
3. Fill out the application form and read the “Declaration and Acceptance” section of the form keenly before making the declaration, as this is where the bank asks you to confirm that you read disclosure documentation describing fees, liabilities, and how to account interest is calculated. Ideally, you have selected an account that earns high rates and has no or low monthly service charges. If need any assistance please do not hesitate to ask the customer care staff.
4. Submit the duly completed application form in all respect, attached to the supporting documentation as mentioned under the “Required Documents” section of this page and the purchase amount to the nearest BSB branch office at Tellers for account opening.
5. If the purchase is for a large amount EFT is permissible into the BSB savings collection account with your account number as a reference.
6. After the process, the Letlole Certificate will be issued after 21 working days and sent to the client through the registered postal address.

Via the Botswanapost Office

1. Alternative applicants can also submit their application file (printed, filled, and sign BSB Account Opening Application Form and the supporting documentation) to the nearest Botswanapost Office, Tellers for account opening and issuing of passbooks sectionBotswanapost branches contact and map location details
2. Upon receipt of the application file and the purchase amount to the post office teller will verify if all the required information and documents have been provided for processing, if everything is in order, the client will be issued with an acknowledgment slip as proof of submission of the application and for further inquiring if the need arises.
3. The application file will be forwarded to the Botswana Saving Bank (BSB) office for processing and verification.
4. If the purchase is for a large amount EFT is permissible into the BSB savings collection account with your account number as a reference.
5. After the process, the Letlole Certificate will be issued after 21 working days and sent to the client through the registered postal address.

Validity

• The product has a life span of three years but early encashment is allowed with the holder forfeiting interest before the lapse of six months period.

• The maximum an individual is allowed to purchase is P100 000. In addition, the holder of the certificate can nominate a relative or a friend as a beneficiary to a certificate. Can be opened at BSB banking Hall, Francistown branch, or Post offices nationwide.
• The product has a life span of three years but early encashment is allowed with the holder forfeiting interest before the lapse of six months period.
