ProcedureEdit

  1. Complete and submit an Application Form.
  2. Present proof of identity.
  3. Sit in and pass the theory test: The theory test for moped (R-N class) or for (LAMS) approved motorcycles (R-E class) is a computerised test consisting of 35 multiple choice questions on road rules and safe driving practices relating to motorcycles. To pass the test you must score a minimum of 28 correct answers.
  4. Undergo an eyesight test. The test will be conducted at the same time and location as paying for your learner's permit.
  5. Have your photo taken.
  6. Learner driver applicants are issued with an interim paper-based permit before receiving a learner's permit card in the mail within 14 days.

A moped is a motorcycle that is designed so as not to be capable of a speed exceeding 50 km/h and either has an engine capacity not exceeding 50cc; or is not powered by a piston engine.

Before you can apply for a driving license for mopeds, you will need to obtain a Learner's Driving Permit first. The learner's permit/license will allow you to practice driving (supervised) before taking the practical driving test.
