ProcedureEdit

  1. Applicants will need to obtain a copy of Northern Territory Road Users Handbook (you will need to study this before attempting the Theory Test).
  2. Submit a completed form L1 - Application for a NT Driver/Rider Licence.
  3. Provide Evidence of Identity and Residency.
  4. Pay the fee.
  5. Pass an entry level theory test based on NT Road Laws.
  6. Pass an eyesight test.

Motor Vehicle Registry (MVR) Customer Service Centre

MVR has Customer Service Centres throughout the Northern Territory.
For those living in a remote locality, or outstation you may go to your nearest Police Station.

  • Motorcycle Operator Skills Test (MOST or Balance Test) *: $ 20.00
  • Practical Driving Test conducted in respect of licence application *: $ 86.90
  • Learner licence - 2 years: $ 22.00

Need for the DocumentEdit

For new drivers and riders the first licence needed is a Learner's Licence.
