ProcedureEdit

  • Mail your completed application with certified copies of your identification documents and appropriate fees to below postal address. Registry don't accept faxed applications

  • Additionally, you must supply supporting documents if a certificate contains an error you wish to have corrected. Photocopies of any documents confirming the correct information may include;
  • certified copies of passports
  • migration documents
  • birth or marriage certificates of the parents
  • other documentation confirming the spelling of names, and the correct date of events.
  • All documents except foreign passports must be current.
  • Photocopies must be must be certified as true copies of the original by a qualified witness* (e.g. Justice of the Peace; notary public; legal practitioner with current practising certificate; person authorised to administer an oath under S.26 of the Oaths Act 1900).
  • Complete all sections including payment details. Incomplete applications will cause delays and may be returned or refused.

Correct Error on a Certificate Identification

  • Please provide at least three (3) forms of identification, one of each from Categories 1, 2 and 3. If you are unable to provide identification from Categories 1 and 2, you must still provide at least three (3) forms of identification. At least two (2) of these must be from Category 3.
  • All documents except foreign passports must be current.
  • Photocopies must be must be certified as true copies of the original by a Qualified Witness* (e.g. Justice of the Peace; Notary Public; Legal Practitioner with current Practising Certificate; person authorised to administer an Oath under S.26 of the Oaths Act 1900).

  • Security/Crowd Control Licence
  • Tertiary Education Institution ID Card

  • Recent utility account with current residential address

EligibilityEdit

Either Bridegroom or Bride can modify their marriage certificate.



FeesEdit

  • Registry error
    • Where the Registry has made an error, a replacement certificate will be made in exchange for the incorrect certificate at no charge.
  • Client error
    • Where incorrect or incomplete information was supplied at time of registration, and a replacement certificate is required, a minimum fee of $48.00 (including postage and handling) applies.

  • Turnaround times are subject to compliance with Registry requirements. Incomplete applications, with incorrect identification will incur delays.

InstructionsEdit

  • There may be occasions where you need to amend the details on a Marriage Certificate. Changes may include;
  • Adding information that may not have been known at the time of registration;
  • Correcting a spelling mistake on the certificate;
  • Modifying information that was incorrectly supplied
  • Where the Registry has made the error, a replacement certificate will be issued in exchange for the old certificate at no charge.
  • Complete all sections in application using black ink and write in BLOCK letters.
  • All corrections must be signed. Do not use white out.
  • Also you can do adding, correcting or modifying information on a marriage certificate.
  • Registry records are historic documents and can usually only be amended to reflect information that was correct at the time of the event. Names or addresses of parents, their ages, occupations or places of birth or marriage will not be updated to reflect more recent circumstances.
  • All certificates with incorrect information must be surrendered to Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages.
